Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel Raja responded to criticism about the film’s sound in a press statement on Friday. Here’s what he had to say.
Director Siva’s Kanguva, featuring Suriya, Disha Patani, and Bobby Deol in lead roles, was released on November 14 and faced criticism for its sound design. In response, producer KE Gnanavel Raja addressed the issue during a virtual press conference from Hyderabad on Friday, assuring that corrective measures were being implemented.
“I spoke to the exhibitors about it,” Gnanavel shared with the press. He revealed that starting today, the film’s sound would be lowered by “2 points.” He explained, “We’ve communicated with everyone and requested that the volume be reduced by 2 points. Since the film is set a thousand years ago and features intense action sequences throughout, we decided to make this adjustment based on the feedback we received.”

Gnanavel also responded to criticism directed at Devi Sri Prasad’s music, clarifying, “There has been no criticism of the film’s songs or the re-recording. The only feedback we received was about the volume being too high. So, DSP is not at fault here. The sound issues will be fixed by the night show.”
He also gave an update on the sequel to Kanguva, which teased a showdown between Suriya and Karthi’s characters. Gnanavel explained, “Director Siva is currently committed to another project with Ajith Kumar, which he will complete first. We’ll begin planning for Kanguva 2 afterward. The script is ready, but we’ll make some adjustments based on the feedback we’ve received.”
About Kanguva
Suriya stars in the dual roles of Kanguva, a brave warrior, and Francis, a bounty hunter. The film intertwines the story of a tribal warrior fighting to protect his people from colonization with the journey of a present-day bounty hunter. Disha Patani also plays a bounty hunter, while Bobby Deol portrays a fellow warrior alongside Suriya’s character.
On its opening day, Kanguva grossed ₹58.60 crore worldwide. The producer expressed hopes that the film will surpass all of Suriya’s previous box office collections and become his highest-grossing film by Monday.
