Ramandeep Singh Matches Suryakumar Yadav’s Record in T20I Debut
Ramandeep Singh made his T20I debut for India on Wednesday, November 13, against South Africa in the third match of the ongoing four-match series at SuperSport Park in Centurion. The 27-year-old all-rounder from Punjab came in to bat at No. 7 and made an immediate impact, hitting a six off the first ball he faced from South African pacer Andile Simelane.
By hitting a six on his debut ball, Ramandeep equaled a unique record set by Suryakumar Yadav, becoming the second Indian cricketer to do so. Suryakumar had also hit a six off the first ball in his T20I debut against England on March 18, 2021, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In that match, Suryakumar Yadav scored 57 runs off 31 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes, and was named Player of the Match. Meanwhile, in his T20I debut for India, Ramandeep Singh scored 15 runs from just six balls.
Ramandeep Singh was run out by Heinrich Klaasen on the second-last ball of the 20th over while attempting a quick single. Before his dismissal, Ramandeep contributed 28 runs for the sixth wicket alongside Tilak Varma, helping India surpass the 200-run mark for the second time in the ongoing four-match series.
Tilak, who was promoted to No. 3 in the third T20I, top-scored for India, finishing unbeaten on 107 runs off 56 balls. During his innings, he hit eight fours and seven sixes. Tilak became the second youngest Indian batter, after Yashasvi Jaiswal, to score a T20I century. He also matched Sanju Samson’s record for the most runs in a T20I between India and South Africa.
Tilak was named Player of the Match for his outstanding batting performance in India’s 11-run victory, which gave them a 2-1 lead in the series.
The fourth and final T20I of the series will be held in Johannesburg on Friday, November 15.
